Day 2: January 13 2009

Posted by M. Keefe on Jan 13, 2009 in Fitness, Health, progress, report

Day 2 is coming to a close and I am not all that thrilled with the progress, but optimistic it will get better. Today when I weighed in I was actually +5 but I think it had part to do with time of day and the clothes I was wearing since the temperature was a cold 21 degrees.

I have now set 11:00 as my workout time, and with tomorrows weigh-in I should have a better picture of my progress. The next step in this process is to sleep more, as that helps your metabolism and generally puts you in a better mood during the next day.

To make this process a bit more interesting  I have decided to add a prize to my goal (should I meet it) and a punishment if I fail.. kind of like a bonus incentive to push through. I am sure in time I will stop making these side benefits as the health portion is benefit enough, but its a good way to start.

Oh, one thing I learned today.. don’t spend your “free time” near the kitchen.. you think of all kinds of food to make and eat. Not saying you shouldn’t eat, but just be aware of it, as “snacking” can seriously hinder a diet and workout plan.

Weigh yourself consistently

Posted by M. Keefe on Jan 13, 2009 in Fitness, tips

It has come to my attention that the body varies in weight (obviously) throughout the day and choosing a rigid time of day to not only work out, but weigh yourself is a good practice. You will find that if you weigh yourself in the morning you will weigh less than at the end of the day, due to drinking and eating, as all of us do. However, don’t let this get you down, its just a fact of life, but weighing yourself at the same time of day can help.

Also, there is no problem with weighing yourself more than once a day, aside from the fact it can become depressing (to some) because of the fact that the body changes throughout the day.
